UPCOMING PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dunn Family Senior Co-op Apartments, located at 8400 Engleman, has been a staple of the Center Line community for more than 50 years. Since 1970, it has provided rental housing to hundreds of seniors. The building is now undergoing a $19 million rehabilitation and expansion. It is led by CSI Support & Development Services, a locally based and nationally recognized nonprofit manager of affordable senior housing where residents have a direct say in how their building is run.
The project is scheduled for completion in late 2024. The scope of work includes constructing a new wing with 57 modern apartments, updating the existing apartments, upgrading the building’s mechanical systems, and constructing new spaces for health, wellness, and social activities.
Through various community partnerships, the building will provide supportive services that will help residents live safely and independently for longer. Designed to accommodate wheelchairs, the apartments will also have new accessibility features, such as removable base cabinets and conveniently placed grab bars.
Upon completion, all 157 units will offer rent that is based on income, ensuring it is affordable to any qualified senior ages 62 and up. The waitlist is open—rehabilitated apartments will be available in early 2024, and new apartments will be available in Fall 2024.
