Recycling
Center Line's official burgundy recycling bin is provided to each residence. All containers should be rinsed out before being placed in the recycling bin. Do not use plastic grocery bags for your trash or recyclables. Diapers are not recyclable. Additional bins are $8 each, lids are $3 each. For yours, or to purchase extra, call 586-758-8278.
Recycling Instructions
The following items are accepted:
- Cardboard and paper bags - Flatten cardboard and cut into pieces. Please note: Wax coated cardboard is not accepted.
- Empty aluminum cans
- Empty steel and tin cans
- Empty wood containers only
- Empty, clear glass
- Household plastic number 3 through number
- Junk mail - envelopes, flyers, brochures, postcards, etc.
- Magazines and catalogs
- Newspaper - Remove bags, strings and rubber bands
- Paperboard - No wax coated paperboard
- Phone books
- Plastic bags - Most retail and grocery bags
- Plastic jugs and bottles number 1 and number 2
- Pots and pans / kitchen cookware
The following items are not accepted for recycling:
- Chemicals (dry or liquid)
- Colored glass
- Flammable liquids
- Garbage
- Household cleaners
- Medical waste
- Paint cans
- Paper juice cartons
- Paper milk cartons
- Polystyrene foam containers/packing
- Propane tanks
- Type 1:
- Catsup, mouthwash and salad dressing bottles
- Peanut butter, mayonnaise, pickle, jelly and jam jars
- Plastic soft drink and water bottles
- Type 2:
- Cereal liners
- Grocer, trash and retail bags
- Milk, water, juice, shampoo, dish and laundry detergent bottles
- Yogurt containers
- Type 3:
- Carpet backing
- Clear food and non-food packaging
- Electrical cable insulation
- Fittings
- Medical tubing
- Plastic pipes
- Type 4:
- Bread and frozen food bags
- Dry cleaning bags
- Squeezable bottles, e.g. honey, mustard, BBQ sauce, etc.
- Type 5:
- Catsup bottles
- Margarine tubs
- Medicine and vitamin bottles
- Yogurt containers
- Type 6:
- Aspirin bottles
- Compact disk jackets
- Cups and plates
- Egg containers
- Food service applications
- Type 7:
- Some citrus juice and catsup bottles
- Three and five gallon reusable water bottles

Center Line Recycling Center Closure
The Center Line Recycling Center located at the Department of Public Works yard is closed permanently. All recyclables should be placed at the curb side in the proper recycling bin provided to each resident.
